Tokyo Is Where the Past and Future Meet and a Great Place to Visit
Japan's capital is a city that buzzes with energy and possibility. Its metro area has 37.194 million people, making it the most populated city in the world.
This means crowds. Lots of them. Particularly in Shibuya Crossing, the planet's busiest intersection. But it also means a nightlife scene that caters to every taste and rhythm. Whether you're going to giant nightclubs that look like they belong in a movie set in the year 3500, or doing more-low key at a karaoke bar, good times are guaranteed.
Tokyo's gastronomy is just as varied and exciting. The city boasts more Michelin-starred restaurants than any other, so those who enjoy fine dining will not be disappointed. But don't fret if your budget is more limited. Street food stands serve food that is arguably just as delicious (if less "refined") for amazing prices.
And if the noise of the city becomes too much for you, escape into one of the countless urban green spaces or temples scattered around. Here, you'll find the side of Tokyo that is still deeply rooted in traditional culture and where you'll feel far, far away from the urban sprawl.
Whatever your heart desires, Tokyo offers it.

Getting to Tokyo
Given its gigantic size, one airport isn't enough to service all of the Greater Tokyo area. Haneda Airport, or Tokyo International Airport, is closer to the city and is often the main flying hub for flights from other regions of the world.
Though a bit farther from the city proper, Narita International Airport also has direct ground transport to Tokyo. It is sometimes the airport of choice for budget airlines flying in from other East Asian or Southeast Asian countries.

East Asian Capital Alternative: Seoul, South Korea
If Tokyo is out of your budget but you still want an East Asian capital with beautiful temples, amazing food and futuristic vibes, look no further than Seoul. This incredible city in Korea is — in our humble opinion — one of the most underrated destinations in the region.
